ABi - Autonomous Beachcomber

2018 - 20219

Man-made waste is a death-sentence for many beach inhabitants. Not only from the physical material and the toxins released, but also from our efforts to industrially rake-clean our beachfronts into pristine stretches of sand void of flora and fauna.

ABi uses machine vision to first identify un-natural objects, and then remove only what shouldn't be there, leaving the natural habitat untouched.

I developed a prototype system for the evolution of machine vision code to run on a Raspberry Pi, and then built a life-size model of the robotic system.
